On July 10th, 2017...

Sergeant Joseph Murray was conducting a training operation as part of Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) 8231.  Their mission that day was to conduct an airlift from Cherry Point, NC to Arizona where they would conduct pre-deployment training.  While en route the KC-130 they were flying in broke apart in mid-air and crashed in Leflore County Mississippi.

The Murray Family’s loss hit Florida hard, as he was a well respected member of the community. He graduated from Sandalwood High School in 2009 before enlisting in the Marine Corps later that year. In 2006 Sgt. Murray met Gayle Mims from Jacksonville, NC and they were married in 2011.

This July, Brothers In Arms Foundation will conduct an event to honor Joseph.  Fellow MSOT members, family, and friends of Joseph will be participating in a 900 mile hike called the Marine Raider Memorial March.  This march will begin at the crash site in Mississippi, and will finish at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  This 900 mile ruck will take just under two weeks to complete and will signify bringing their brothers home to rest.

In order to conduct this 900 mile ruck march in honor of Joseph, we need support from his friends, family and the Florida community.  We need to raise $25,700 by June 10th.  The funds donated to Brothers In Arms Foundation are 100% tax-deductible. Brothers In Arms Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that directly supports the Marine Special Operations Community.  The funds will be used for flights, lodging, transportation, rental cars, meals and medical supplies.  The Marine Raider Memorial March is a grueling event with a large logistical train, and we can’t do this without your support!
